More than 600 administrators from across Orange County Public Schools recently attended a three-day training at Olympia High School to sharpen their emergency response skills in preparation for the 2025-26 school year.
OCPS was bolstering local safety readiness during the annual Preparedness Days.
The attendees participated in dozens of breakout training sessions that addressed topics such as life safety and security, facilities and maintenance, hazardous weather awareness, injury prevention, safe school plans, threat management, evacuation and shelter training, school to home communications and so much more.
OCPS leaders also participated in more than 20 tabletop exercises to learn how to navigate different emergency scenarios. The participates were able to collaborate and learn from fellow administrators. Participants role played active assailant, hazardous materials, severe weather, human trafficking and other safety scenarios.
