Part-Time Deputy Sheriff Rick Truhan, 49, was relieved of duty today, October 27, 2009, after the Sheriff’s Office received notification that he was the subject of an ongoing Federal investigation.
Deputy Truhan has surrendered all of his law enforcement equipment and credentials, to include his gun and badge, to his supervisors. Deputy Truhan has been assigned to the agency’s Court Security Section since September 29, 2008 as a part time employee.
Deputy Truhan will remain under suspension without pay pending completion of the investigation. Upon completion of that investigation the Sheriff’s Office will conduct an internal review of the findings to determine his future employment status with the agency.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has said that this is an ongoing federal FBI/IRS investigation and that they are unable to provide further details at this time.
