Tonight at 9 p.m. est, President Barack Obama will address the nation from the East Room on the stalemate in Washington over avoiding default and the best approach to cutting deficits.
It will be the first time Mr. Obama is speaking publicly since debt ceiling talks broke down on Friday evening and the president announced that Republican House Speaker John Boehner had called off the debt ceiling and lower deficit talks.
Following Mr. Obama’s address, Speaker Boehner will make remarks.
