President Obama travels to Miami on Friday and will be joined by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, as they appear at the Miami Central Senior High School.
Obama will take the opportunity to discuss how winning the future in education will require investments that promote a shared responsibility among everyone involved;
reform at the state and local levels; and focus on achieving results. The President will deliver remarks on the importance of out-educating U.S. competition.
Bush, for his part, shares similar ideas and himself attempted to introduce several during his tenure as Florida governor.
Political observers believe that Obama’s appearance with Bush is an attempt to project that his education policies are broadly shared across party lines, even as he seeks to get Congress to increase federal funding for education.
Last June, Bush once likened Obama to “a kid coming to school saying, ‘the dog ate my homework,'”, after getting fed-up of Mr. Obama blasting his brother, former President George Bush, for the battered state of the American economy and the huge budget deficits.
