WHO: Noted author, humanitarian and international peacemaker Greg Mortenson will give a talk at Timber Creek High School and sign copies of his books, Three Cups of Tea and Stones into Schools.
Mortenson’s publication of Three Cups of Tea has graced the New York Times paperback nonfiction bestseller list for more than two years. The book has been published in 34 countries. His latest publication, Stones into Schools, picks up where Three Cups of Tea left off.
Mortenson has established more than 131 schools, primarily for girls, in the rural areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. His efforts have helped deliver education to more than 58,000 children, including 44,000 females. His honors are numerous – the Men’s Journal Anti-Terror Award, Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year Award and the Medical Education Hall of Fame Award. He will speak to Timber Creek High School AP Human Geography, English, literature and service learning students in a packed Performing Arts Center.
