An Orlando mother of five was arrested on Monday morning and charged with child neglect, after police found one of her children, 5 years, walking around in the parking lot at 1:40 a.m., while she was out clubbing, Orlando Police said.  Formeka Sanders of Mercy Drive was arrested after she returned from a night club around 3:30 am on Monday morning.
Orlando Police responded to a child neglect call early on Monday morning, after receiving a call from a security officer patrolling the Oak Glen Apartments who said that he found a 5-year-old child walking around in the parking lot alone around 1:40 am. Upon arrival, police were led to an apartment by the child, who could not respond to the question as to where is mother was.
Police entered the apartment where they found four other children sleeping, ages 11-years-old to 4-years-old. The 11-year-old initially told police that he was 15-years-old, when he was asked his age. The 11-year-old identified the mother of all the children as Formeka Sanders, and gave police a cell phone number. According to police, upon calling the number, loud music could be heard in the background. Calls were repeated several times with the same result.
Sanders returned to the apartment around 3:30 am, with her boyfriend, police said.

Sanders told police that she had gone to the Firestone Club, Downtown Orlando. She also said that she believes her oldest child is responsible and could take care of the younger ones.  Police learned that she goes out once-a-week on week-ends, leaving the 11-year-old in charge.
Police arrested Sanders and charged her with child neglect, as the 5-year-old was found wondering around the parking lot at 1:40 am. She was transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.  The children were left in the care of Sanders’ mother.
