Nickelson, National Presenter, To Discuss Brain Smart Foods, Learning

Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) in partnership with the Winter Park Health Foundation (WPHF) is kicking off the 2012-2013 school year with the “Ambassador of Maximizing Learning” LeAnn Nickelsen.  Nickelsen is one of the foremost national experts in maximizing learning through healthy eating for students and teachers. She will be speaking at the Back-to-School Professional Development Conference Wednesday, August 15 from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. at the Orange County Convention Center north concourse located in the north building in room N320C (9400 Universal Boulevard, Orlando – faces Universal Boulevard). More than 10,000 OCPS teachers, administrator and district-level personnel are expected to attend the daylong kick-off to the new school year.

Nickelsen will be speaking about “Brain Smart Foods & Activities that Maximize Learning.”  She will provide proven evidence and tools for educators to apply to their teaching that can impact the health and academic achievement of their students this coming school year. She will focus on the mounting evidence that food, movement and brain breaks affect cognition, energy, moods, sleep, stress levels and more.

Nickelsen has been working with educators for more than 20 years. She has a master’s degree in Education Administration, is a Certified Brain Research Trainer and an author of 11 books.
