New Vocational Center Building Honors Central Florida Public Defender

A new vocational center building that will allow inmates to learn a variety of trades honors a Central Florida Public Defender.

The Julianne M. Holt New Beginnings Vocational Center is named after one of Hillsborough County’s top Public Defenders who has led a long and illustrious career here in the local community.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Chad Chronister recently unveiled HCSO’s newest vocational center building dedicated to Julianne M. Holt.

“Julianne Holt is a beacon of hope in our community, and after years of dedicated service, we are thrilled to honor her lasting impact,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “It is my hope that this building serves as a catalyst for change in inmate’s futures.”

The new vocational center building will house the space for inmates to learn a variety of trades, including carpentry, ironworking, electrical, welding, and heavy equipment.

Milwaukee Tool generously donated over $7,500 dollars worth of tools that will be utilized during the classes. This contribution will significantly benefit the vocational center and inmates who join these courses.

“Empowering inmates with vocational skills is not just about rehabilitation; it’s about rewriting futures and fostering second chances,” said Sheriff Chronister. “I am grateful to our community partners and staff who helped make our vocational center what it is today.”
