A new comprehensive state-of-the- art hospital opened Tuesday morning, officially at 6:00 a.m., in Daytona Beach.
The 270 million, 12-story Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center is double the size of the existing Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial. The old hospital will close after the last patient is transferred some 3.1 miles to the new facility.
The new hospital which boasts 718,000-square-feet, sits on 135 acres next to Interstate 95 and carries some 277 beds with a capacity for 350 beds.
The emergency center is double the size at the old Ormond Memorial location and it BirthCare Center will now have 32 beds, an increase of 19.
This new replacement hospital is now the area’s most comprehensive facility, with many expanded services already available and the addition of new and exciting features.
