“Beach Weeks” is an exciting new events festival celebrating the coastal heritage and healthy lifestyle of New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia County. The 7-week-long family-friendly celebration runs from Memorial Day Weekend until July 4 th, 2013. Beach Weeks kicks off on Thursday, May 23 rd, 2013 with FishStock, a 4-day event featuring separate inshore and offshore fishing tournaments; marine expo and boat show.
Beach Weeks was created to appeal to people of all ages, with something for everyone.

New Smyrna Beach is a preferred coastal destination for many Central Floridians, who have voted it, “Best Beach” in the Orlando Sentinel’s “Best Bets” competition five of the past six years (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012). Last year, National Geographic Magazine named New Smyrna Beach one of, “The World’s Top 20 Surf Towns”; and this year, renowned coastal expert, Professor Stephen Leatherman of FIU (aka, “Dr. Beach”), designated New Smyrna Beach one of, ” Florida’s Top 10 Beach Towns” for USA Today. Dr. Beach’s rankings are based upon 50 criteria points such as water quality, sand quality, safety, public access and more.
Volusia County is already a global tourism hotspot that draws thousands to events like Speed Weeks and Bike Weeks in Daytona. “Beach Weeks” will utilize a similar events-driven approach to further raise the profile of the magnificent beaches, active outdoor lifestyle and family-friendly character of New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia County, which also includes the areas of Port Orange, Edgewater, Oak Hill and Osteen
