New OCPS Deputy Superintendent Announced

Superintendent Designate Dr. Maria Vazquez and the Orange County School Board announced Dr. Michael Armbruster as the next Deputy Superintendent for Orange County Public Schools.

Prior to his retirement in 2020, Dr. Armbruster spent 33 years with OCPS in various roles.  He served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and finally as the Associate Superintendent for Career and Technical Education. Thirteen of those years were spent as principal at West Orange, Ocoee and University high schools. He also served as the executive director for the Orange County Association of School Administrators, where he served as a liaison between principals, assistant principals and the deputy superintendent.

“Dr. Armbruster has a proven track record of building relationships and creating opportunities for all students. I am excited to have him back as our next deputy superintendent,” said Superintendent Designate Dr. Maria Vazquez.

On the first day of school, Dr. Armbruster visited several schools throughout the district and had the opportunity to welcome back members of the OCPS team around Orlando.
