Nearly 200 People Help Save Life of Blind Puppy

Rue

When Rue, a blind 5-month-old Pit Bull puppy, was posted on Facebook, Orange County Animal Services’ staff had no idea that she would capture the hearts of so many individuals. Within a matter of hours, Rue’s Facebook post had been shared by almost 200 people. Thanks to Facebook, Rue received an adoption application the next day.

After seeing Rue’s picture on Facebook, Jacqueline Lipka knew she had to save the life of this special needs puppy. “When I saw her, I fell in love with her and it didn’t matter that she was blind,” said Lipka, Rue’s adopter. “I thank Orange County Animal Services for posting her on Facebook, so I was able to see that Miss Rue was in need. I can’t wait to take her home after her surgery. She has a family waiting for her.”

Rue is scheduled to be spayed today and will be going home soon with her forever family.

“Because of her condition and loving spirit, Rue quickly became a staff favorite,” said Dil Luther, Division Manager of Orange County Animal Services. “We’re thrilled that social media has helped us find a forever home for Rue. Facebook has been a great outlet for us to promote our current events and adoptable animals.”
