It’s going to be shamrockin’ busy in downtown Tampa this weekend due to the St. Patrick’s Day parade, spring break and a number of other events.
The City of Tampa is encouraging visitors in and around downtown to be prepared for detours, potentially congested roads, and parking spots to fill up quickly.
The Central Florida events include the always popular Tampa’s Downtown River O’ Green festivities and Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Parade, which is moving from Ybor City to downtown Tampa for the first time.
Combined with nearby shows and other events, tens of thousands of visitors are expected to fill the downtown area between March 13th-17th. Lucky for you we have all the information you’ll need, so Keep Calm and Leprechaun.
March 16th: Curtis Hixon Park – Tampa’s Downtown River O’ Green (11am – 6pm)
March 16th: Downtown Tampa – Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Parade (5pm)
March 17th: St. Patrick’s Day (increased foot traffic expected downtown)
As for other events in the area, the FL State Thespians at the Tampa Convention Center, the Pied Piper’s XOXO Carnival at Armature Works, and the Molten Florida Pre-Qualifier (volleyball tournament) all taking place through March 17th.
The City of Tampa is encouraging visitors to plan to arrive early for their event and consider using alternative means of transportation to get there. Examples include parking in Ybor City and taking the Free TECO Streetcar, using the DASH service (operated by the Tampa Downtown Partnership) or any of the available eBike/eScooter rental services.
Please use additional caution while driving through and near downtown, as large numbers of pedestrians are expected. The Tampa Police Department will be on high alert for anyone driving under the influence.
