Nap Ford Community School – a Health and Wellness Charter School, is thrilled to announce their participation in the Peace Run, a global torch relay run, which symbolizes peace and harmony.
Orlando will be one of over 1,000 cities and towns nationwide to pass the torch of World Peace and Harmony across America. The late peace visionary, Sri Chinmoy, and other world leaders including Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, and Mikhail Gorbachev have inspired the Peace Run to provide an opportunity to express hopes and dreams for a more harmonious world.
Leading up to the World Harmony Run, Nap Ford students have committed to Sri Chinmoy’s vision of world harmony by learning conflict resolution, adopting no bullying agreements and committing to acts of kindness. Students have expressed great pride in passing the torch of peace on to others. To show their pride for the event Nap Ford will line Livingston Street to cheer on the runners, 20 of which are NFCS student ambassadors.
The World Harmony Ceremony will kick off with a proclamation from Mayor Buddy Dyer’s office, followed by the introduction of the World Harmony Run Team and conclude with the recognition of Commissioner Daisy Lynum, Bishop Allen Wiggins and Dr. Joy Taylor for their humanitarian efforts in Orlando.
