A recent murder-suicide involving a father and 5-year-old son in Central Florida is a heartbreaking tragedy.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s 911 center recently received a call from a concerned mother who was unable to contact her 5-year-old son and his father.
Deputies conducted a wellness check at the residence on Cranbrook Drive in Lutz near Tampa, at 7:53am, finding no immediate signs of concern.
At 9:55am, the mother called 911 again after gaining entry to the home, where she discovered both her son and his father deceased.
Deputies arrived at the scene at 10:05am and confirmed the deaths. Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds.
HCSO’s detectives were working to uncover the circumstances surrounding this local tragedy.
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking loss for this family, and our prayers are with them during this unimaginable time,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister at the time. “Tragedies like this have a profound impact on everyone involved, including our deputies who responded to such a devastating scene right after Thanksgiving. We are committed to providing support to both the grieving family and our deputies as they process this difficult situation.”
This is an active investigation, according to local law enforcement.
