An Ocala motorcyclist was killed Sunday on State Road 408, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 46-year-old motorcyclist who was heading westbound on the East-West Expressway and west of Ferguson Drive, for an unknown reason traveled on the paved portion of the right shoulder.
Troopers said, the motorcyclist, who was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson, continued on the right shoulder until he struck a guard rail.
The rider was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Troopers have not identified the motorcyclist.
The crash, which occurred just before noon, remains under investigation.
