Motorcyclist Killed in Orange County Crash Was Driving ‘Aggressively’

fatal-crashA motorcyclist died on State Road 417, on Tuesday, after crashing into the back of another vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses told troopers that the motorcyclist, later identified as Michael Maurice Johnson, 26, of Kissimmee, was passing other motorists and driving aggressively as he headed south on State Road 417, around 5:00 p.m.

Johnson, as he attempted to change from the outside lane to the inside lane near Lee Vista Boulevard, crashed into the rear of a Suburban van driven by David Bonci, 43, of Viera, Florida.

Troopers said, he was ejected from his motorcycle and struck the center guardrail. His motorcycle continued for over 2,500 feet.

Johnson, who was rearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Troopers are awaiting toxicology reports to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in Johnson’s demise.
