Motorcyclist Killed at Red Light, Identified

Troopers have released the name of the Orlando motorcyclist killed on Sunday morning on State Road 50.

The deceased is Michael Bechman, 41 years old.

Bechman was hit from behind by a 2012 Honda SUV driven by Shawn Yerich, 18, of Clemont, near Remington Road.  Bechman was stopped for the red traffic light.

Troopers said, Yerich failed to see that Bechman had not begun to accelerate, after the light changed to green.

After Bechman was hit, his 1999 Suzuki slid across the intersection, throwing him from the bike. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The bike eventually ended up in the center median of SR 50, just west of the intersection, troopers said.

Bechman was pronounced dead on the spot.

Neither Yerich, nor his passenger, 18-year-old Christina Carattini, of Monteverde was injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, troopers said.
