A motorcyclist died early Friday morning after he crash into a guardrail in Lake County on Thursday night, Florida Highway Patrol said.
Gary Cavinder, 44, of Grand Island, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on SR 44A just after 11:30 p.m., on Thursday night when he veered off the roadway as he approached a sharp left hand curve.
The front of the motorcycle then struck a single guardrail, causing it to skip along the guardrail. Cavinder was thrown from the motorcycle, authorities said.
Cavinder continued to travel westerly along the guardrail, after being thrown from the motorcycle, troopers said.
The motorcycle came to rest next to the roadway’s westbound edge, some 150 inches away.
Cavinder was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died Friday morning around 5:00 a.m. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
