Mother, Son, Arrested for Delivery of Pills Without Prescription

A mother and son were arrested in Broward County in connection with the unlicensed practice of a health care profession, punishable by up to five years in prison, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) announced today. Following a joint investigation–DOH and Broward Sheriff’s Office–Roberth Hamilton Junio Jesus and Celia Pritchard were arrested on October 6.

DOH-South Florida Unlicensed Activity Unit (ULA) received a complaint from an individual who stated that unknown persons were selling birth control pills to consumers without a prescription in the Pompano Beach area via a classified advertisement in a local Portuguese language newspaper.  Investigators were subsequently able to identify Junio-Jesus as a possible suspect.

On October 6, 2010, Mr. Junio-Jesus was arrested and charged with Delivery of Medication Without a Prescription; Delivery of a Legend Drug and Practicing Healthcare without a License after he engaged in a transaction with undercover BSO detectives. Celia Pritchard (Roberth’s mother), was also arrested and charged with Delivery of Medication without a Prescription and Delivery of a Legend Drug.   Neither of the subjects is licensed to practice any health care profession in Florida.
