A mother has accepted a plea deal connected to her daughter shooting and killing a woman in Orlando.

33-year-old Lakrisha Isaac entered a plea of no contest for Manslaughter and Culpable Negligence by Storing or Leaving a Loaded Firearm within Reach of a Minor for a shooting that resulted in the death of 41-year-old Lashun Rodgers.

On May 30, 2022, Orlando Police were called to Jernigan Gardens Apartments at 1440 Mercy Drive in reference to a shooting. The victim was found with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Orlando Police Department arrested the child on suspicion of murder.

According to local law enforcement, after getting into a fight with the child’s mother at the Orlando apartment complex, the child used her mother’s gun to shoot and kill the victim.

Witnesses reported to officers the shooter was a juvenile and identified the juvenile’s mother as Lakrisha Isaac. She was later arrested and charged in the death of Rodgers.

At a plea hearing on May 3rd, Isaac pleaded guilty to Manslaughter and Culpable Negligence by Storing or Leaving a Loaded Firearm within Reach of a Minor. Provided Isaac is not arrested prior to and attends her sentencing hearing on June 21st, the Court agreed to the terms of five years in the Florida Department of Corrections followed by three years of probation, at least a 4-hour parenting course and substance abuse evaluation and treatment. She will also be required to follow the Department of Children and Families case plan and comply with the Cornerstone Connections plan.
