Mom, Son Combo Arrested in Attempted Double Murder, Third Suspect at large

l-r: Bobby Jo Curtis, Bryan Curtis and Vanessa (Venessa) Musson – attempted murder suspects

Deputies continue to search for a third suspect in an attempted double murder in Moon Lake in Pasco County on Friday night.

Investigators say, a mother and son, Bobby Jo Curtis, 40 years, and her teenage son, Bryan Curtis along with a third suspect, Vanessa (Venessa) Musson teamed up to rob and severely beat 44-year-old Joseph M. Bruno, of Midvale Avenue, New Port Richey.

Brono and Bobby Jo had recently met on a singles dating site, singlesnet.com. Bruno had invited Bobby Jo and her son to live with him and the pair had been at his home in New Port Richey for about one week, investigators say.

Last Friday night, Bruno’s neighbor , David Lee Ragon, 69 years, observed Bobby Jo, Bryan and Musson carting away items of furniture and other belongings from the home and went over to investigate. That’s when Ragon was hit in the head with a baseball bat by the trio, as he tried to go into the house to check on Bruno.

Inside the home, investigators found Bruno bound and severely beaten.  A  blunt force object have been used, investigators say.

Both Bruno and Ragon were taken to a local area hospital. Bruno remains in critical condition and Ragon is in stable condition, investigators also say.

Meanwhile, investigators tracked down Bobby Jo and her son, Bryan at a motel in New Port Richey and arrested the pair. They have been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, among other charges. At a news conference on Saturday, investigators said, the two are “not strangers to the criminal justice system.”

Investigators are still looking for Musson who they say, stole several firearms during the assault. She is also accused of beating Bruno and Ragon and is expected to be charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, grand auto theft and grandfirearm theft.

Musson, who is about 5′ 5’tall, has multiple tattoos on her back, ankles, and chest with the word “Nessa” on her arm. Investigators believe that she might be in possession of Bruno’s 2000 White Econoline van with Tag # 366TQH.  The vehicle has a roof rack and is still missing.

If anyone knows the whereabout of Vanessa Musson you are urged to contact the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office at # 727-844.7711.  Investigators say, the suspect should not be approached.
