Cassidy Wolf is the current Miss Teen USA for 2014. She is a 19-year-old college freshman who was recently victimized by an online predator. Wolf has begun raising awareness about cyber safety as a result of this experience. She suffered personally when Jared Abrahams, a fellow classmate from her highschool, did the unthinkable: what the FBI has referred to as “cyberexploitation.” Jared hacked into her computer and invaded her privacy by taking photos of her without her knowledge through her webcam. “I wasn’t aware that somebody was watching me on my webcam. The light on the camera did not even go on, so I had no idea. The camera captured things that a person does in the privacy of your own room that you would never expect to be watched.”
Miss Teen USA will be present at Snoopwall’s Booth (No. 520 in the Fantasua Ballroom of the WDW Contemporary Resort convention center) on Tuesday, April 7th, 2014 between 1PM and 6 PM to promote best practices and tools for online privacy – a mission she shares with SnoopWall. Between those hours, Cassidy will be available to share her privacy story, meet the press and public, sign autographs, and take photographs. One of the tools that she and SnoopWall jointly created is a helpful infographic titled:
“Ten Tips to Reclaim Your Privacy and Keep Out Cyber Snoops.”
Also available for media interviews is information and security expert and CEO of SnoopWally, Gary S. Milifiefsky, to support Cassidy as she shares her story to raise awareness about the need for cybersecurity and what can happen to our families, especially teenagers and young children, when we don’t take the necessary precautions to protect their identity.
