In a bizarre twist, an inmate in a Michigan jail has filed a fake motion with the Orange County court to have the lead attorney on the Casey Anthony Case removed.
In a hand-written motion, Curtis Jackson charges that Jose Baez is not properly representing Casey Anthony and he should be withdrawn as her counsel.
Dated March 25, 2011, Jackson writes that Baez’ defense strategy is “ineffective, not sound or reasonable.” Jackson also charges that Baez has not been keeping the defendant informed on witnesses, nor is he interested in subpoenaing witnesses.
“Attorney Jose Baez has not forthrightly and honestly informed defendant on the witnesses that has (sic) come forward on defendant’s behalf and has failed to investigate and formulate an appropriate defense based on the witnesses testimony,” Jackson writes.
Jackson added that, “Counsel (Jose Baez) is disinterested in subpoenaing witnesses and preparing a substantial defense, thus making him ineffective.”
Based on these reasons, Jackson states that he is requesting the court on Casey’s behalf, to remove lead counsel Jose Baez from representing her.
The motion by Jackson is clearly a fake, a spokesperson said.
No word on whether or not, Jackson is studying the law while imprisoned in Michigan.
Casey Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. She has maintained her innocence and has said her daughter was kidnapped by a baby sitter. The child’s remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home, in December 2008.
Anthony is in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial which is expected to commence on May 9, 2011.
