The driver of a motorcycle, who troopers said, was traveling at a high rate of speed, was killed Sunday night after crashing into the rear of another vehicle on State Road 520 near Sykes Creek Parkway.
51-year-old Terry Reyes, Jr., of Merritt Island, died when he was ejected from his Harley Davidson motorbike, near the intersection of Sykes Creek Parkway on State Road 520, just before 10:00 pm.
Florida Highway Patrol said, Reyes was heading westbound at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a Nissan SUV that was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Sykes Creek Parkway on the westbound lane of SR 520. The left front of the motorbike struck the right rear of the SUV.
Reyes was taken to the Cape Canaveral Hospital where he later died from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Nissan SUV was driven by 43-year-old Stefan Harris, of Merritt Island. Harris was not hurt as a result of the crash.
