Peter San Pedro captured line one singles, 8-2, and Cooper Vissers doubled up his opponent in line two, 8-4, to lead Men’s Tennis to a dominating 7-0 victory over Lake Highland. Izzy Almontaser (8-1) and Ajay Govindaraj (8-0) had the quickest matches of the day in lines three and four and Marcelo Goncalves closed out the singles barrage with am 8-4 win in line five. In doubles, San Pedro and Vissers took care of business with an 8-1 win, as did Almontaser and Govindaraj in line two. Isaac Tsai and Brett Fielder won their exhibition match, 8-6, with Chinmay Bondugula and Goncalves taking home the victory in the final exhibition, 7-5. DP now sits with a record of 11-1 and will host Boone today and Marquette, Wisconsin Wednesday.
Women’s Tennis saw victories by Sarah Baron in line one (8-2) and Maria Contreras in line two (8-2) as well as in line one doubles with the same duo (8-6) but fell just short against Lake Highland, 4-3.
After a tough loss to Virginia power Collegiate HS, Women’s Lacrosse found the perfect cure for the blues with a 19-5 victory over Cypress Creek Friday night. Elizabeth Hales scored five goals and added three assists while Cymber Larkin was good for four goals and two assists as the Panthers improved to 4-2. Katherine Breese picked up a hat trick with Sarah Hamp, Min Jang and Michaela Decker adding two goals each. Asahi Hirano rounded out the scorecard with a solo goal and Mia Emmerson recorded seven saves. JV Lacrosse also picked up a victory at Cypress Creek, 13-4. Five goals by Jimena Davila, two each by Alena Poulin and Alex Klote and solo goals by Michelle Schneiter, Tonie Stephen, Sabri Morgan and Gabriella Carrifiello gave the Panthers their fourth victory of the season. Monday night at Trinity Prep was not as fortunate for DP (4-2) as they fell to the host Saints, 9-3. Jimena Davila scored all three goals with Marilyn Davis and Nicole Mikeal combining for seven saves.
JV Softball picked up their third straight victory to even their record at 4-4 after knocking off visiting Lake Nona, 13-3. Donna Ryan went 3-3 at the plate with a triple and four RBIs and was equally effective on the mound, striking out seven. Megan Maladecki drove in Ryan with a double while Mariah Rodriguez and Katie Reilly each knocked in two runs apiece. Their busy week continues today at home vs. Boone.
