Former First Lady Melania Trump hosted the Log Cabin Republicans, an LGBT group, for a fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago in South Florida.
“As we look toward the future and the challenges that lie ahead, we must come together around the principles of liberty, justice, and patriotism,” First Lady Melania Trump said. “By uniting in our common goals, we can create a brighter and more promising future for all.”
The Melania Trump fundraiser raised more than $1.2 million for the Log Cabin Republicans. According to oranizers, the event was sold out less than two days after it was announced.
The event focused on the group’s “Road to Victory,” a voter-turnout program planned for gay voters in swing states against Democratic President Joe Biden.
Republicans say this further shows how the party is increasingly welcoming of gay conservatives.
“LGBT voters are OUT for Biden and IN for Trump in 2024,” the Log Cabin Republicans posted after the fundraiser.
