The Florida Supreme Court on Monday rejected challenges to a ballot initiative to legalize medical marijuana and approved the wording of a proposed constitutional amendment which will go before voters in November. If approved, it would authorize physician prescriptions of medical marijuana for “debilitating conditions,” and a regulatory scheme for dispensaries.
Polling shows that voter support for a medical marijuana law is overwhelming.
People United for Medical Marijuana, the group pushing the constitutional amendment led by Orlando lawyer John Morgan, announced Wednesday it had collected more than 1.1 million signatures, wesh.com reported.
Morgan said he expects the measure to get the 60 percent of the vote needed to pass, wesh.com also reported.
