The Florida Association of Counties on Thursday urged Gov. Rick Scott to veto a measure that would require local governments to pay for Medicaid in cases in which they claim they shouldn’t have to pay because of accounting and billing errors.
The requirement was included in a budget conforming bill (HB 5301) passed by the Legislature in the final week of the session.
The counties say Medicaid’s billing is rife with errors, and they sometimes are being billed wrongly for Medicaid care.
The bill would require the counties to pay up on a discount basis, or seek a ruling in administrative court.
