10:00 a.m. Neighborhood Stabilization Program Kick Off

Mayor Dyer will join with City Commissioners to make an announcement about the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The City of Orlando has been allocated $6.7 million from the federal government to purchase and sell foreclosed properties for the purpose of stabilizing communities that have suffered foreclosures and abandonment.

Mayor Dyer will speak at the Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers Luncheon and give an update on SunRail and High-Speed Rail. The Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers group provides a forum for new lawyers in the Central Florida community to exchange ideas and provide assistance to each other.

Mayor Dyer will kick off this year’s City Academy, a chance for citizens to get informed and involved in City government. During the 10-week program, citizens will be taken on a backstage tour of the City Beautiful, highlighting some of the services, activities and opportunities the City of Orlando has to offer.

6:30 p.m. Fourth Annual CityKidz! Buddy’s Benefit for Children

Mayor Dyer will host the Fourth Annual CityKidz! Buddy’s Benefit for Children also known as Buddy Jam 2010 which will raise money for Parramore Kidz Zone (PKZ). PKZ connects children in the Parramore community with opportunities that they might not otherwise have such as pre-kindergarten education, healthcare, mentoring, tutoring, constructive activities and college assistance programs.
