Mayor Buddy Dyer will be re-connecting with his inner child as he works with kids in the Florida Hospital for Children’s pediatric unit, today, Thursday at 2:00 pm.
Mayor Dyer will assist the children in the playroom on an arts and crafts project, providing a well-needed distraction.
As part of his Strengthen Orlando plan, Mayor Dyer has transitioned his series of work-alongs to focus primarily on community service. Through leading by example, Mayor Dyer encourages citizens to get involved and give back to their community.
Distractions through play are essential to the recovery of kids in the hospital, as it gives them a few minutes of freedom from the hospital setting and provides an important get away from their medical condition. The time kids spend playing with volunteers can also give parents some much-needed additional support during the stressful time of having a child in the hospital.
