A man who barricaded himself inside an RV for seven hours, finally ended the ordeal by killing another man and a 9-year-old boy, before turning the gun on himself. A woman and a 7-year-old boy were also critically injured.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office said, the bizarre ordeal started just before 6:30 p.m., on Thursday when a 911 call was made about a shooting at Highland Woods R.V. Park near Deerfield Beach.
Investigators say, upon arrival they found a man outside a recreational vehicle, unresponsive on the ground. In a nearby R.V., a man told investigators he was holding a woman hostage and would kill her if they approached.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue paramedics and Coral Springs Police Department’s SWAT Team began to stage near the scene.
Deputies tried to convince the man to surrender peacefully, but he refused.
Investigators say, around 7:30 p.m., a woman emerged from the R.V. unharmed. The woman told detectives that the man’s wife and two sons were with him in the R.V.
After seven hours, SWAT Teams entered around 1:30 a.m., Friday, and discovered the victims.
Investigators say, the barricaded man inside the R.V. and the shooting victim did not know each other.
The injured woman and boy were transported to North Broward Medical Center and Broward General Medical Center, respectively, in critical condition.
Now investigators are working to determine the circumstances which led to the attacks that left three people dead: an adult male, a 9-year-old child, and the barricaded man.
