Mark Spain Real Estate Achieves $106 Million in Sales in Debut Year in Orlando Market

Mark Spain and Mark Spain Real Estate have a lot to celebrate these days. Since its first year with annual gross sales of $443 million in 2016, Mark Spain Real Estate has achieved more than 750% in growth, ending 2021 with $3.3 billion in sales. Expanding into the Orlando real estate market in March 2021, Mark Spain Real Estate closed nearly $106 million in annual sales in just nine months.

Additionally, it has grown the Orlando sales team to 35 agents at year-end with continued team expansion expected in 2022.

Perhaps one of the most unique aspects about this independent real estate firm is that its record sales numbers each year have been accomplished by a highly productive sales team. While franchise real estate operations with similar sales numbers often have thousands of real estate agents, Mark Spain Real Estate ended 2021 with 354 agents, closing an average of nearly $10 million each. By comparison, the average agent in the US closes 10 homes for just over $3 million. This means Mark Spain Real Estate agents close three times the sales volume and four times the number of closings annually.

“From non-sales roles to listing agents to closing agents, we strive to put the best person possible in each role. We then give them the tools and ongoing support they need to do the best job in those positions,” explained founder Mark Spain. “In fact, we provide our agents over 225 days of training per year from our in-house training department. With so many options in residential real estate, we are grateful to serve our clients in reaching their real estate goals while delivering an unparalleled client experience.”

Mark Spain Real Estate continues to increase its market share in all six markets where it serves families in reaching their real estate goals—Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Orlando and Tampa. For example, Charlotte, Nashville and Raleigh each grew to just under a half billion in gross sales. For Charlotte and Raleigh, sales more than doubled the previous year’s sales revenue. In addition to being the country music capital, Nashville was also a star within Mark Spain Real Estate, nearly quadrupling annual sales and more than doubling its sales team size.

Such expansive and sustained growth has made Mark Spain Real Estate the No. 1 team in America each of the last four years, according to a real estate sales ranking conducted by Real Trends and The Wall Street Journal. It’s also the reason the firm has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America for six years running.

At a time when companies in nearly every industry are struggling to find workers, Mark Spain Real Estate had some 8,500 applications in 2021. The company welcomed over 300 new team members in 2021 and expanded into two new markets in Tampa and Orlando, Florida.

And in a year of many firsts and records, it also crossed the 10,000 annual closings level. This was a drastic leap from the previous year’s 5,647 units sold.

“It was a year of tremendous growth for us, between more than doubling annual sales, surpassing the 10,000-closing mark for the first time, and expanding into Florida,” stated Mark Spain Real Estate President and CEO, John Makarewicz.

He attributed part of the record year to the increasing popularity of its Guaranteed Offer program, the size of the company’s team growing by nearly 50% to better serve clients, the continual expansion of the firm’s media strategies and investments, a highly active housing market, continued low mortgage interest rates, and double-digit single year growth in home values in most of the markets served by Mark Spain Real Estate.
