Man who claimed Home Invasion, Arrested for Wife’s Murder

A man who called the Orange County Sheriff’s office on Friday, claiming that his home was invaded, has been arrested for shooting and killing his wife, deputies said.

On Friday, January 8th, around 11:00 pm, Orange County Deputies responded to a report of a home invasion at 1252 Sanderlin Avenue in East Orange County in which a 28 year old female was shot and killed by an unknown assailant.

During the course of the investigation into this incident the victim’s husband, Robert Ratliff, 30 years, agreed to go to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Central Complex to be interviewed by homicide detectives.  As the interview progressed, detectives learned that the couple had argued about an hour before the reported shooting.  Later, during the interview  suspect Ratliff indicated that he accidentally shot his wife.  Evidence and information obtained from the shooting scene and statements made by the defendant during his interview resulted in homicide investigators charging the man with first degree murder.

Mr. Ratliff has been transported to and booked into the Orange County Jail.
