A Polk County man wanted for attempted murder of his girlfriend was apprehended in Carrollton, Georgia on Friday morning, Polk County deputies said.

Randall Scott Miller, 44, is accused of shooting his 53-year-old girlfriend Mickie Pickern three times in the area of Lake Van Road and CR 559, Polk County deputies say.  Pickern, who miraculously survived, was shot once in the back of the head, once in the side of the head and once in the face, deputies also say.

Miller was caught by the U.S. Marshals Service in Carrollton, Georgia. He has been booked into the Jack T. Bell Detention Center (Carroll County Jail) where he will await extradition back to Polk County.

Carroll County is located in the west central section of Georgia on the Georgia-Alabama state line, and is approximately 49 miles west of downtown Atlanta.

Pickern is in stable condition and is expected to recover from her wounds, deputies said.

Miller had been previously arrested in Polk County for battery, domestic violence and child abuse.

“We appreciate the community’s help and the U.S. Marshals Service for helping us locate this very dangerous suspect. Randall Miller shot his girlfriend three times in the face and head when she tried to get away from him. He tried to kill her, yet she miraculously survived. After shooting her, he dragged her back into his truck, drove around, and dumped her out, leaving her for dead. He belongs behind bars, and we’re happy he’s there,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
