Deputies have identified a man who slashed his estranged girlfriend’s throat during an argument, as she returned home early on Wednesday morning. The victim, who lives on Orlando’s east side, is currently in critical condition, investigators said.
According to deputies, two 911 calls were received around 6:45 am, from a man stating he had just cut his “wife’s” throat. The other 911 call was from a neighbor stating he heard a loud argument taking place in the parking lot at 7813 Silverbrush Circle, off south Golden Road on Orlando’s east side.
Investigators learned that the female victim had just arrived home when she was approached by her estranged boyfriend who had been waiting for her in the parking lot of the apartment. Deputies said that the couple argued and it is believed that at some point the argument escalated whereupon the suspect cut the victim’s throat. The suspect fled the scene.
Deputies said that the victim was able to run to her apartment where family members took her to Florida Hospital East. The woman was then airlifted to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she is in critical condition.
Investigators have identified the suspect, but have not released his identity nor that of the victim. It is expected that the suspect will be charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.
Deputies are continuing with the investigation.
