UPDATE: March 3rd 2010: There are reports that the female cashier who was shot at the Publix Supermarket yesterday evening has died.  Details remain sketchy and OPD detectives have still not released the names of the shooter or victim.

A man shot a female cashier in Publix Supermarket this evening, and then turned the gun on himself, Orlando Police Department (OPD) officers said.
According to OPD:
OPD responded at approximately 8:00pm today, March 2nd, to a shooting which occurred inside the Publix at 2873 S. Orange Avenue. A man was in line at the Publix when he shot a female cashier. The man then fled the supermarket and was challenged by an OPD officer who was patrolling the area. The man then shot himself and was subsequently taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) where he was pronounced dead. The woman is being treated at ORMC with life threatening injuries.
OPD investigators are currently on scene.
Detectives have said that the incident appears to be a domestic between the shooter and the woman. No names are being released at this time pending next of kin notification.
Customers inside Publix at the time of the shooting were not injured.
