A Central Florida man was sentenced for unauthorized use of a debit card in another person’s name and aggravated identity theft.
U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced 60-year-old William Fisher, of Melbourne, to three years and six months in federal prison for access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.
According to court documents, Fisher, while aiding and abetting Tonie Marie Marriott, knowingly and with intent to defraud, used an unauthorized debit card in another person’s name to make purchases over $1,000 at various retail stores and elsewhere.
Together, Fisher and Marriott also broke into United States post office boxes and stole mail throughout the Middle District of Florida, according to authorities.
Marriott was previously sentenced to three years in federal prison for her participation in the offenses.
This case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kara M. Wick. Fisher pleaded guilty on April 4, 2024.
