The body of a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a bag of explosives and an assault rifle were found inside a dorm room at the University of Central Florida early on Monday morning.
Police went to the Tower 1 dorm on UCF main campus, when an alarm sounded at 12:20 a.m., and after a 911 call was received, according to news reports. Â The gruesome discovery was made after police entered one of the dorm rooms at Tower 1.
About 500 students were evacuated from the building and classes at UCF’s main campus have been cancelled until noon today.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are assisting the UCF Police Department with the investigation.
The identify of the victim has not been released and it is not clear if the dead person was a student.
