Man Killed by Hit and Run Driver In Apopka

Troopers are searching for a hit and run driver who killed a pedestrian as he attempted to cross Dovehill Drive near Thompson Road in Apopka on Wednesday.

FHP said that the pedestrian, who was walking northbound on the east shoulder of Thompson Road around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, was stuck and killed by a hit and run driver as he turned onto Dovehill Drive.  The unknown driver and vehicle struck the pedestrian who came to rest in the eastbound lane of Dovehill Drive.  The driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian, a 53-year-old Orlando man, was transported to the Florida Hospital in Apopka, where he succumbed to his injuries.  The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Troopers do not have a description of the suspect vehicle at this time.
