The driver of a prisoner transport van was killed after he ran into the back of a semi on I-95.
The crash occurred near mile marker 169, just after 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Troopers said, 47-year-old Jeffrey Farless, of Melbourne, was driving a 2009 Ford van when he struck the rear of a semi truck that had merged onto the I-95 from the Valkaria Rest Area.
After the impact, the Ford van became lodged under the trailer portion of the semi and was dragged onto the east shoulder, northbound on I-95.
Farless was pronounced dead on the spot by the medical examiner.
The driver of the semi truck, 45-year-old Agron Shembitrak, of Jacksonville, was unhurt.
Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
