A Port St. Lucie man who killed his parents and then threw a house party was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Thursday.

In July 2011, Tyler Hadley, then 17, killed his parents, Blake Hadley, 54, and Mary-Jo-Hadley, 47, by bludgeoning them to death with a hammer, then spent about three hours cleaning up the blood before throwing a house party for about 60 people.

Judge Robert R. Makemson in St. Lucie County, who handed Hadley two life sentences, described the crime as brutal, heinous and premeditated, abc.go.com reports. The judge also accused Hadley of manipulating experts and lying about hearing voices.

On the night of the party, Hadley spoke to a friend about the killings. Eventually word got out around the party and the friend tipped off police, leading to Hadley’s arrest the following morning, officials said.

The victims’ bodies were discovered locked in the master bedroom and covered with household items – towels and linens – to conceal them.
