Man found dead in crash on near Tampa Avenue was murdered, deputies say

Murder-Investigation-658x370Initially believed to be a fatal single vehicle accident, Orange County deputies now say, the driver of a Lexus that crashed early on Saturday morning, was killed.

Jeremiah St. Roman, 24, was found dead in a Lexus that crashed at the end of 37th Street and Tampa Avenue on Orange County’s west side, around 3:30 a.m.

Troopers said, the driver, believed to be Roman, was driving fast through the residential area and didn’t notice a chain link fence surrounding a basketball court belonging to House of Hope.  The Lexus struck one of the heavy gauge poles holding up the basketball court fencing and overturned.

Witnesses told investigators a passenger was seen feeling the vehicle following the crash.

Roman was pronounced dead on the scene by the Medical Examiner.

Initially believed to be a fatal crash, deputies say, Roman suffered injuries not consistent with a traffic crash.

Detectives have not said how Roman was killed, but his death has been ruled a homicide.
