A man wanted in connection with a carjacking in Pasco County and who led troopers on a 5-mile chase in Osceola County, is in hospital with serious injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol say, 18-year-old Jose Gutierrez of Dade City led troopers on a chase on I-4 near mile marker 58, after a traffic stop was initiated.
Gutierrez fled and traveled northbound on SR 429 for several miles before he lost control of the 1995 Ford Explorer he was driving and crashed. The vehicle overturned and Gutierrez who was ejected, sustained serious injuries. He was transported by helicopter to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Troopers say, Gutierrez faces numerous felony and traffic charges.
