Man Dies in Motorcyclist Crash in Orlando

A motorcyclist was killed on Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on East Anderson Street in Orlando.

Police said, Matthew Philip Sullivan, 26, of E. Church Street, was traveling east in the 1300 block of East Anderson Street in the left thru lane just before 1:00 pm.  Sullivan had stopped at a red traffic signal at Mills Avenue, police said.

Witnesses told police, when the light turned green, Sullivan accelerated to about 70-80 mph, lost control of the motorcycle and hit a left side curb.

Police said Sullivan was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a tree.

The motorcycle came to rest about 150 feet from the first impact with the curb, police said.

Sullivan was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said, Sullivan was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
