Man Dies After SUV Overturns on Parkway

One of the passengers in an SUV was killed on Saturday, after the vehicle overturned and he was ejected, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred on Grissom Parkway near Camp Road in Brevard County, around 6:00 p.m.

James Walker, 28, the driver of the Toyota SUV, had just passed another vehicle that was traveling southbound as he was, when he entered a curve and the front right tires drifted off the roadway, troopers said.

Troopers also said, Walker then over-corrected by steering the SUV to the left, crossed the southbound lane and entered the northbound lane of Grissom Parkway. The SUV overturned as he attempted to steer it to the right.

26-year-old Dalton Cook of Cocoa, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the SUV. He was pronounced dead at Wuesthoff Hospital.

Another passenger, 21-year-old Rebecca Tillett, of Titusville, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was hurt in the crash. She and Walker were transported to Wuesthoff Hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
