Driver dies after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Orange County

hit-and-runThe driver of a Lincoln Town car who was struck from behind by a hit-and-run driver on US 441 in Orange County, died on Tuesday, Florida Highway Patrol said.

On March 8, William Tschida, 78, of Mt. Dora, was traveling southbound on US 441 near Ponkan Road, when he decided to change lanes and was hit by a pick-up from the rear, who was changing lanes at the same time. Tschida ran off the roadway, traveled down the embankment and the Lincoln overturned one time, troopers said.

Witnesses described the pick-up which fled the scene, as tan or grey in color.

Tschida died from his injuries on March 18. His wife, Shirley Tschida, 77, a passenger, suffered serious injuries.
