Man Convicted of Murder for Shooting at Orlando Gas Station

The Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida recently announced the conviction of a defendant for a shooting at an Orlando gas station.

An Orange County jury rendered its verdict this month following a four-day trial, and Hakeem Haron was found guilty as charged for First Degree Murder with a Firearm.

On September 18, 2019, 26-year-old Haron fatally shot a man named Eddie Murphy, 45, as he was leaving the RaceTrac gas station located at 4805 West Sand Lake Road.

Prosecutors presented compelling witness testimony and video evidence from two surveillance cameras obtained by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies. The video footage showed Haron, armed with a gun, advancing through the parking lot of a Chevron gas station towards Murphy.

Surveillance video captured 13 muzzle flashes of a gun being shot in the area where the two men met.

The video footage then recorded Haron walking away from the scene.

The severity of the charge carries a mandatory life sentence. Haron’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 30th.
