A man who attempted to abduct a woman, stalked another and battered a third woman on Wednesday morning, has been arrested, Orange County deputies say.
24-year-old Carlos Jose Caban, recently released from jail, was taken into custody and charged with one count of false imprisonment, three counts of battery and one count of aggravated stalking.
Investigators say, just after 9:00 a.m., Caban attempted to kidnap a woman who was walking on Birch Creed Drive in the Deerwood Mobile Home Park on Orange County’s east side. The woman fought back and Caban sped off in a white Chevy pickup truck.
Shortly after, a 14-year-old female told deputies as she walked to school near County Road 419 and Highway 50, a man driving a similar truck to Caban’s cut her off and attempted to confront her. During the encounter, a homeless man emerged from the nearby woods and scared the suspect away, investigators say.
And again, it happened. The suspect, later identified as Caban, spotted a woman walking near the Lake Pickett Manor subdivision around 9:15 a.m., and he followed her closely. The woman told investigators the man grabbed her buttocks and drove around the block several times.
With a good description from all three victims, deputies pulled over Caban near Highway 50 and Lake Pickett Driver around 9:30 a.m.
Caban was released from jail in August, having served four years for armed robbery, investigators also say.
