Man being Charged with Battery, Attempts to run over Deputy with Vehicle

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to arrest a man earlier today on domestic battery charges, but before they were able to do so the suspect attempted to run over the arresting officer with his vehicle in a separate incident.  The suspect, Shameek Anderson, 28 years, of East Hammon Drive, Orlando was taken into custody later on Wednesday night without incident.

Shameek Anderson, 28, arrested

According to deputies, there was probably cause to arrest Shameek Anderson on domestic battery charges as he and Candice Neil, his ex-girl friend had gotten into an altercation on May 18th.   A deputy went to Anderson’s work place at the Orange County Water treatment Facility on McCormick Road to conduct the arrest only to find that the suspect was leaving the building and going off duty.  Before leaving the property, a deputy established contact with Anderson who was driving a black Ford Taurus vehicle. The deputy asked Anderson to step out of his vehicle at which point he attempted to run over the officer with his vehicle, before speeding away.

Later, around 7:46 pm on Wednesday night, deputies caught up with Anderson at 5515 Clarcona Pointe Way in Ocoee where they located his vehicle.  Anderson was in the house with five young children.   After detectives secured the location with all appropriate units in place, contact was made with the suspect inside who surrendered to deputies without incident at 8:26 pm.
